COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

In order to use this Site, you will need a username and a password. This will generally be assigned to you by an employee of the school, school district or other educational institution or organization (the “Organization”) that purchased access to the Site from Pearson and provided such access to you. The Organization (and not Pearson) controls, defines and manages certain information that is input into the Site to associate your username and password with you, such as your first and last name and, if you are a student using the site, other information such as your grade level, teacher name and school name. The Organization may also input other information about you, if available and desired by the Organization, such as your parent or guardian’s name, your home address, email address, gender, photo, and date of birth, to assist the Organization in tracking your educational progress when using the Site, obtaining reports on how you are doing, analyzing this information for the Organization’s purposes, and sharing that information with you.

ACCESS

Your Organization controls and manages your access to this Site through its issuance to you of user names and passwords. Your access to this Site may be terminated at any time by your Organization. User names and passwords and personal and non-transferable, and must be kept confidential. It is important that you exit from the Site at the end of any session.

Please contact your Organization immediately if you need a new user name or password, if you do not wish to use this Site, if you do not want personally-identifying information about you (or your child, if you are reviewing this Privacy Statement on behalf of a minor child) collected or used on this Site, or if you become aware of any unauthorized use of or access to this Site.

INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

SECURITY

The Site may be hosted on Pearson servers or on servers of a third party with which Pearson contracts to provide such services. In either case, any servers maintained to host this Site are located in restricted-access facilities, and any connections to such servers are through secured connections, with firewall protection to prevent unauthorized break-ins.

This Privacy Statement does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond the control of the Organization and Pearson. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet is guaranteed completely secure, given the inherent operation and structure of the Internet. All transmissions through this site are done at your own risk.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO PARENTS, TEACHERS AND CHILDREN

PARENTS AND TEACHERS: We encourage parents, guardians and teacher to spend time with their Children (Children 12 and under) or the Children they teach and participate in the activities that may be offered to Children on this Site. No personally-identifying information should be submitted to this Site by Children without the consent of their parent, guardian or teacher. We encourage parents and teachers to monitor Children’s online use, and to help us protect their privacy by instructing Children never to provide such information on this Site or any other website without permission. We are also prohibited by law from conditioning a Child’s participation in any activity on this Site on the Child disclosing more personally-identifying information than is reasonably necessary to participate in such activity.

CHILDREN: Please do not give your full name, email address, home address, telephone number or any other personally-identifying information that would enable someone to contact you either on-line or off-line, without first asking your parent, guardian or teacher for permission.

We do not knowingly collect personally-identifying information from Children on this Site either directly or passively, except when a Child may voluntarily submit such information through a "Contact Us" link within this Site. If a Child communicates with us in this manner, and we can identify the sender as a Child, any personally-identifying information submitted will only be used to respond on a one-time basis to such Child, and will thereafter be deleted from our records. COOKIES AND IP ADDRESSES

The use of cookies is common in the Internet industry. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer's hard drive, through your web browser, to enable our systems to recognize your browser. Cookie technology tells the Site non-personally-identifying information, but does identify your computer, browser and Internet specifications. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider.
